AKAMAI - Leonbergers
Angela White is president of the UK Leonberger Association and author of a book on the breed - The Leonberger.
The White family's first Leonberger 'Willow' (Kinghern Whispering Willow at Akamai) came to them as a 9 month old pup with some behavioural problems. These were soon ironed out and Willow went on to be a registered PAT dog and spent much time as a PR and demonstration dog accompanying Angela on book signings and dog training courses. Willow gave birth to 3 fabulous litters. From the first litter Angela and Mike kept 2 pups Scout (Akamai Amigo) and Minty (Akamai Accapella). Both Scout and Minty became registered PAT dogs. Other pups from the litter went on to great success notably AKAMAI Aroura (Rosie) owned and trained by Pat Leverick. Rosie became the highest winning obedience dog in the UK gaining her Obedience Warrant shortly before her owner - Pat's untimely passing in 2003. One pup became a qualified support dog assisting her disabled owner both at work and at home. Some have gone on to win in the show ring, but best of all they have become fabulous pets. Joining the family in 2003 - Kira (Kjalarnes Hubble Bubble at Akamai). Kira came as an older dog with a few behavioural issues that have been dealt with through confidence building and motivational training. And Maggie (Engelben Just the One at Akamai). Maggie has a fabulous temperament, superb coat and bone structure and turns heads wherever she goes. Maggie has become a firm favourite with the IABTC Haxey Study Centre’s students. She does exceptionally well with all standards and types of students from raw beginners to advanced instructors – everybody loves Maggie!(Photo Right - Maggie - Engelben Just the One at Akamai) Maggie and Kira have both been tested for HD, Elbow Dysplasia and hereditary cataracts. We are pleased to say that for both the girls, hips are good and elbows and eyes clear. |
