NB - Species may vary from time to time. In the interests of animal welfare many of our animals are rehabilitated rescue animals that are accustomed to and enjoy handling. Adult dogs are qualified Pets as Therapy dogs or have other specialist training.

Subjects Covered

  • Animal Care - Handling skills, feeding, accommodation, behaviour, breeding, grooming and nail clipping, history, environment, enrichment, welfare, legalities, training and all aspects of care.
  • Behaviour and Training - Behaviour patterns, conditioning, problem behaviours, domestic manners, and specialist training for work or show.
  • Canine Care and Behaviour – health, responsible ownership, training programmes
  • Equine care – feeding, grooming, tack use and maintenance, health, welfare, pasture and stable management, ground work training.
  • Conservation and Woodland Skills – fencing, coppicing, pollarding, greenwood crafts, wild life ponds, reserve management, species recognition and recording (ABC Practical environmental studies level available)
  • Horticulture for small holding – growing from seed, cuttings, plugs. Production of food, composting, soils, pest control.
  • ASDAN - Bronze, Silver, Gold and short courses
  • COPE - Certficate
  • Art & Design (ABC Validated Certificate level 1&2)

Sessions can be very specialised covering one or two of the above or more general to suit a broader programme or curriculum need. Programmes can be day sessions, 10-12 weeks or full year roll on roll off format.

Educational Centre Based Courses and Visits

Catering for a wide age range, from nursery to the more mature student.

Animal behaviour, canine behaviour and training, operant conditioning, clicker and target training, behaviour problem counselling, puppy training, obedience training, agility, flyball, working trials, kennel and cattery management, pet store management, animal care, animals as therapy, animal first aid, animals in society, feline behaviour and training, wolf behaviour.

Assessing and Verifying

IABTC have staff qualified in assessing and verifying (D32-33 assessor, D34 internal verifier, and NPTC special needs).

Course Development

Courses can be written and developed for your own specialist areas, assistance given with validation if required and appropriate.

Correspondence Courses

The IABTC also offers correspondence courses as standard in animalbehaviour, canine behaviour, feline behaviour, instructing dog owners, therapeutic animals. Courses can also be tailor made to your needs. (Separate details available on request).
